Kanoa Igarashi ‘Red Bull Surfing “No Contest Tokyo”’ released showing Japanese surf culture

The Japan edition of NO CONTEST, a series on Red Bull’s YouTube channel that looks at surf communities around the world, has finally been released.

Kanoa Igarashi, the host of this video, visited Japan ahead of the video’s release. He participated in a preview screening and talk show held at a venue in Tokyo and shared his thoughts.

The series ‘NO CONTEST’ on Red Bull Surfing’s YouTube channel is a documentary that uses footage outside of competitions, literally not wearing a contest jersey, to showcase athletes’ various perspectives on the surf culture that is rooted in the area.

In No Contest Tokyo, Kanoa Igarashi, who came to Japan in the autumn of 2024, conveys Japan’s surf culture by focusing on his surf sessions in Shonan and Chiba, while touching on world-class Japanese pro surfers, Japan’s top-level shapers and Japan’s world-class wetsuit technology. The film conveys the culture of Japanese surfing, touching on world-class Japanese pro surfers, top-level Japanese shapers and Japan’s world-class wetsuit technology.

The film features world-renowned Japanese pro surfers Shusei ‘Mar’ Ohno, Kaito Ohashi and Naomi Kobayashi, as well as top-level Japanese shapers Misao Tako of Sequence Surfboards and Yoshinori Ueda of YU Surfboards. and Yoshinori Ueda of YU Surfboards are also featured.
